Jay Moussa-Mann was born in Stockton-on-Tees, but spent most of her childhood in Turkey. She started experimenting with filmmaking when she 10 years old when she realised that this was something she wanted to do - direct films.

After her A-levels she worked in Turkish Christian TV production, writing and directing documentaries and music videos and eventually started making her own short films.

In 2014 after studying Film and TV Production at Teesside University, she set up as a freelance filmmaker and made short films for various companies and charities including Durham University and TLG Education.

In 2018 she wrote and directed her first feature film, a musical based on the scriptural story of Ruth.

Jay is also a singer-songwriter and composed both the songs and the instrumental music in her feature film.
